Coats are so thick this year I've even had to work a knot out of my DSH tabby.

I have a mobile pet groomer come visit once a month to alternate working on my cats. I had been having a hard time keeping my little Peaches from matting up. I would comb her out in the morning and she would have mats again that evening. She ended up getting a lion cut at the groomers recommendation. Huggybear was a huge fuzz ball and wasn't matted up to bad so I thought I would just have the groomer give him a 'sanitary cut' but ended up letting her talk me into giving him a lion cut also. I'll try to take post some pics asap.

Although it doesn't get cold her (well with very rare exceptions), the boys coats still bulk up in the "winter". Must be more of a hormonal thing than a temperature thing I've decided. All winter I pick up clumps of fur from all over even with regular grooming and brushing.

I am not an expert by any means, but I have one cat (Humphrey) who is full and fluffy and manageable with respect to mats. His brother, (Bogart), is getting a lion cut next week. They have received the same attention, but Bogart's undercoat fur seems to me to be of a different quality. It knots up easily and is rather fine and fragile. I pick up clumps of fur off the floor regularly.
