Hi! I've been lurking a while and finally thought I should introduce myself. While I've had cats, including some Persian mixes, I now have my first purebred Persian!

About 6 weeks ago, I adopted (rescued) a tiny Persian princess from an LA County Animal shelter. She was totally matted, had a dewclaw growing into her foot, weighed only 5 lbs (malnourished), and had pneumonia. The big debate at the shelter was should I be allowed to adopt her. Eventually (after me yelling!) they let me sign a waiver and take her. BTW, she was only in the shelter 3 days and was an owner surrender -- the malnutrition didn't happen over night.

Presently, Isabel's over the pneumonia, dematted, toe nails trimmed, and up to 6.25 lbs! We have a few problems still, but she is such a joy to have. She looks up to me with those emerald eyes and I melt. (She's a chinchilla -- I never knew cat eyes came in such a bright green!)

Here's a bad photo of her from several weeks ago:

I can't wait until she's more fluffy and friendly.

Linda

She's beautiful, Linda, fuzzy picture or not!!! She'll come around - it sounds like she is going to need some time to trust. You are wonderful to have saved her and I know Isabel will never let you forget it. Welcome to the gang - we are glad you have stopped lurking and stepped in! :flower:

She is just beautiful! :):cat:

I am so happy you rescued her from a life of misery and now she's happy and healthy! Rescue persians are completely persians (just lousy owners), and they are just as beautiful and sweet as the ones for whom you will pay $1000s. She's gorgeous now, and she will just get more gorgeous with time. Even as they get older, they still look like sweet little doll-faced kittens! And unbelievable green eyes silvers do have!

Thank you; you will never regret it. The love a persian gives is undeniable. She may be a little shy for quite a while, but mine still is even after 15 years. But very loving; will greet you at the door every time. Keep posting her pictures! Obviously, we love pictures!
