Kira, there is NO VALID reason to insist on the NeoPolyDex. NeoPolyBac is an antibiotic eye ointment without steriods and works just about the same. There are also a lot strong eye drops without steriods.

Unless the vet is going to do bloodwork to check for the big viruses (FeLV, etc), the bloodwork will not be too much of a help since her blood counts will be affected by the infection. And as for the rabies shot -- not until she's healthy.

Just get her an antibiotic shot, oral and/or eye antibiotics, and then apply lots of hugs!!!

I agree - no vaccines until she is healthy. Why risk her immune system having to deal with the bug she has and the vaccine? I believe vaccinating an ill cat causes more problems than it helps and MOST vets go ahead and do it anyway. Okay I'm getting off my soapbox now! :D

In my experience with my vet....he wouldn't give innoculations
to an ill kitty..
When I got Bandit, and brought her in for a health check, and because she was
not eating....mentioned that I need to set up her last shot appointment, and he said..
we will get her in good condition before even thinking of that..

Good luck to your girl, Krys...I hope all goes well....

Hugs,
Joan

If Annabella is sick with a bacterial infection she probably won't get vaccinations. As for taking her in the first time she sneezed.. whenever mine sneeze and I bring them in right away I'm told if the sneezing is repetative then bring them in tho for an occasional sneeze that's probably normal so sometimes you do have to wait and see what develops and often like with humans presenting symptoms seem to happen overnight re the gunky coloration of eye discharge and then lots of sneezing, lack of appetite, poop probs.

I think you just love Annabella and don't want anything to happen to her or for her to suffer. Don't blame yourself. Like LindaH said there's an incubation period for most things so that's why you may not see the symptoms right away. This has happened to me almost everytime I've brought a cat home from a shelter or from boarding at the Vet's (the getting sick a week to two after having been brought home).

I think too if the animal was stressed in whatever env. that most likely if there's something going around they're more likely to catch it.

I hope your son's child is doing Ok re the febrile seizures.

OH Krys...bless your heart and Annabella's! I agree with the others...no vacs and no steroids. I suspect some Clavamox and Tripple Antibiotic will do the trick. One eye drop I LOVE and keep on hand here is Tobramycin...it is amazing stuff and works like magic on babies. You can even take it and put a drop on the bridge of the nose along with the eyes for UTI's. If I have a baby that takes on fluid for example during birth...I put them on this right away and usually can avoid nebulizing.

You are both in my thoughts...sick babies (human or furry) are always such a worry!!!!

I credit Heather (and Dianne) with saving Puffy's eye. The Neo-Poly-Bac is a much better option.... Please give us an update when you can
