HI All,

Thought I would share something uplifting...many of you know I took Khi (my Crex) and was supposed to take Jezzie (Cas and Love's baby) to the show this weekend. Well Jezzie was still favoring her back left foot so it was just Khi and I that went to the show. Honestly, I really wanted to just come home a few times...wasn't the same not having one of my kitties to show. But regardless Khi and I had a good time.

Khi got 4 Second Best of Breeds and 2 Best of breeds against his own breeder...so was a great show. No finals...but this was kitten class with 106 kittens in the show! So I felt good. I am looking forward to him turning 8 months hold so we can get out there and work on Granding!!!

I did get alot of "What the h*ll are you doing with that!" from a few of my friends who didn't know what to make of me showing a shorthair and an unusual breed to boot. But over all it was a good weekend.

Oh and Khi got really testy with Kathy, his breeder. She worked on him a little to help clean up his ruff area (it should be very short)...and from that point on he would growl and even try to bite me if we were near her. She walked behind Paul while he was judging Khi on the table and Khi started to get nasty and Kathy said, "Oh it isn't his fault..it is me...the cat came from my house but now HATES me...sorry Paul"...LOL It was to the point Kathy would try to get Dallas (her girl) in the ring and out of the ring before I brought up Khi...just to keep him calm. If he didn't see Kathy...all was well. HA HA! Made for an interesting show.

   What happened to the idea that cats don't hold grudges?!

Glad you had a good time with Khi!

Why would Khi behave like that with his Breeder??? Seems strange.. she certainly didn't hurt him when doing the grooming?? Have you groomed him??

OH no Judy, she didn't hurt him. I have groomed him at home with no issues just not with a razor. He gets baths every week with the rest of the cats but since he has a different coat, his is quick and painless. Literally wash and wear! One shampoo, towel dry and set free...after air dried apply "silk" (oil) to his coat to hold the curls. That is it!

However, I have used the revlon shaver (electric shaver the size of a pencil) to groom his ruff area at home to practice -- as I said it is to be short. Well Kathy thought that it might frighten him to use it in the showhall so she used the razor (bikini razor)...apparently he REALLY doesn't like that. Maybe it pulls? Kathy was surprised that I was able to use the revlon shaver without issue later in the showhall...he was so good too!

I'm not sure what his deal was...I almost wonder if he smelled the "cattery" smell and that was the problem and not the grooming at all. I don't have a "cattery" persay as my cats run my home. Well except new mommas of course and wee babies -- they are in the nursery until old enough to run (safety). I cage Khi when we are not home for his own safety. Cornies are notorious for getting into trouble that could potentially be fatal to them. Kathy cages all her kids until she is home for the same reason but the minute any fussing goes on...they go back in the cattery.
