Roomy is bringing the kitten to the vet for me this afternoon. I once had a big bottle of ear cleaning solution for Gabby Kitty. I hope they send Angel home with a new one.

I barely used any olive oil. just got my finger 'wet' and lubed her exposed ear. I won't continue with it if it smells though. yeah the ear isn't hot or red and she does not scratch at it.

I am just not one to enjoy and savor the months of kittenhood. I fret too much. I won't relax until a couple weeks after the 6 month Spay. Angel just wouldn't be my cat if there was not at least one panic trip to the vet all for naught.

Angle, I hope it is nothing, but I have to say you sure are an attentive dad.
Re: Smushie, Our Cinderella, sings opera. I have caught her in the entrance, singing at the top of her little lungs, listening to the reverberation up the stairs and tile floors. It is SO cute.
And I love hearing how Smushie picks Angel up by the scruff.
The breeder of our Birmans told me that her females will try to 'steal' kittens from other litters. It is their strong mothering instinct.
CUTENESS AT YOUR HOUSE!
Good luck at the vet Angel.

I'm the same way. After Puffy had her spay and had her hematoma I swore I would never get another kitten again. And look where I'm at... It gets so much less stressful when they start getting bigger and stronger ;)

I know this is a bit late (and I'm a bit grumpy), but the olive oil should not cause much if any smell. If the olivie oil is causing the sour smell, then that means the olive oil is rancid and should be thrown out.

Also, cats don't get ear waxs plugs like people do, at least without specific causes. Causes can be ear mites, ear infections, or ear cysts. With ear mites, cats usually scratch more. With ear infections, cats may or may not scratch or tilt their heads. Ear mites often do lead to ear infections. And infections can lead to hearing loss, deafness or worse.

I'm glad she's going to the vet and having this checked out.

ahhhh Dan, the joys of kitten-hood.....

I think it is great that AK  is going to the vet for her little ears... sounds like they need some attention!!!!!

As I read your post Smush is doing the "calling"??? Elvis is very quiet, WedWed will leave the room where Elvis and I are and then start to call... I tell him to knock it off and here he comes and rubs up against me.... and now Elvis and WedWed call to each other... eesshhhhh can't they get a cell... sigh

I don't think it is anything to worry about... I just don't understand why they can't just come to where they left us... sigh

If it is the kitten calling you might have them check to see if she is deaf.. with white kittens this is sometimes the case...

You are a great Dad!!!!

Let us know what the vet says!

I think it is darling that Smush is carrying AK around... either she is worried because the baby's ears smell bad, or, she wants you to do something with "it" ... giggle

Libby carries toys around and cries with them in her mouth but I have noticed since Bunni's unconventional delivery that she is doing it alot more...but without a toy. Libby was a fabulous mom and LOVES babies so I am sure that is part of it. As for Smushie -- I would say she has the instinct and wants you to pay attention to her sister!

Definatly get Angel to the vet for that ear. Does sound like an infection!

Dan just catching up, I am not sure about the carrying part but the calling is normal. Sparky is quite talkative and will just sit and yell for no apparent reason when she is by herself. It causes me anxiety attacks
