All this to say benign skin tumor
Source/History
Dorsolateral digit four left front foot. Unknown duration.

Microscopic Description

Haired Skin: There is a well demarcated, nonencapsulated dermal mass comprised of multiple primitive follicular structures, ribbon-like cords and lobules of neoplastic basaloid epithelial cells that are separated by streams of collagenous stroma. Neoplastic cells are cuboidal to polygonal with distinct cell borders and scant amphophilic cytoplasm. There is mild anisocytosis and anisokaryosis. Nuclei are round to oval and euchromatic with indistinct nucleoli. There are 38 mitotic figures per 10 400 X fields. Neoplastic cells extend to within less than 1mm of the lateral tissue margin and to 1 mm of the deep tissue margin.

Haired skin: Trichoblastoma
Comments
Surgical excision is complete, yet minimal in this case, therefore continued monitoring of the surgical site is warranted for local recurrence. :((Not what I wanted to read)

Trichoblastoma (previously basal cell tumor) is a benign neoplasm of follicular germ cell origin in dogs and cats. Trichoblastoma occur most frequently on the head and neck.( leave it to my Tara to be different :)) With complete excision, local recurrence is not anticipated.( I hope I hope I hope)

Did you understand all that?:roll:

Translation: One big happy dance!!! :DKitty treats for everyone!!!

"continued monitoring of the surgical site is warranted for local recurrence" -- This just means that if Tara produced one in that area, she may produce another one in the area, but it is extremely unlikely.

"Trichoblastoma occur most frequently on the head and neck" -- head 61.4%, neck 13.6%, forelimb (including foot) 12.4%, so Tara was very close to being in the top two. :P

Terri, what a relief. Good news, even if it takes a dictionary to decipher it.
