If anyone is interested in things Titanic,
here is an article and some video bits
about the services held yesterday in
Halifax:

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/201 ... urday.html

The Canadian Ice Services also dropped a wreath
and rose petals at the site of the sinking as
a commemoration to those who died. Touching
really.

During my time working at the Phoenix Fire Dept., I was responsible for fire protection at several of the City's museums and got to go check out the traveling Titanic exhibit before it opened. It was a really interesting exhibit and I got to touch the large piece of the Titanic's hull that they had raised from the ocean floor.

they had several excellent programs on the history channel all last week, one related fact was when the ship was going down, a wife, gave her husband her glasses to keep them safe, knowing that she may never see him alive again, when they pulled his frozen body from the sea, the glasses were safe in his pocket and they saw she got them back. It makes me wonder, even back then , to prove a point , already one of the best ships ever, they ran her to fast, did not take the time to finish her right in the since there was not enough life boats and forgot the most important thing of all, nothing is 100 percent sure, ever. Do to human error, she sunk to the bottom, so sad. :paw:

Hi! When Diana and Chris came to visit us in Indy, we went to the Titantic Exhibit. It was awesome and sad at the same time.

My fiancée is an absolute Titanorak! He's been obsessed with it for 21 years of his life. He's building a wooden model of RMS Titanic actually, it's 1/250 scale. :)
This centennial means a lot to me personally too as I had a relative who died on the Titanic, he was called Ernest Theodore Corben and he was an assistant printer on the Titanic. I don't know much about him, but trying to find out as much as I can about him and what happened with him on that dreadful night. :(
We're hoping to go to the new museum in Southampton soon as it's relatively close to where we live.

Holly.

Halifax was a part of the retrival of the bodies. There were three boats the first retrived I believe 53 bodies three burried at sea, the second 20 I believe 2 burried at sea and the next only 6. One boat was already at sea but returned to halifax to get ice and storage boxes

It's quite interesting. Yet sad.
