Hi all,

a quick hello and a little question...
am I mistaken or are tomatoes bad for cats?
I have been looking into kibble with a (much) higher
meat content and came across soms canadian brands that look interesting
and that are available in Belgium.
One brand has tomatoes ans sweet potato and berries in it.
Is that really good?
It sounds good for an omnivore... but for a cat? Potatoes? Tomatoes....?

Looking forward hearing from you!

Usaully, the amount of this plant material is fairly small. While cats are not designed to digest plant material, small amounts usually don't cause problems. Cats will eat the whole mouse, including the digestive track, which would include plant material.

At the recent cat show in Montreal, I was given four packages (each different) of a Canadian grain-free treat with ingredients like you described. They are oven baked. My two really love them because they are crispy crunchy. However, I suspect at least one sort does not agree with Bogart's wonky tummy. His poops softened a bit and returned to normal after I stopped giving him this treat. No problem with Humphrey, though. I think Bogart is jealous.

I am not sure, I have heard potatoes are not good for cats or dogs.. now I will have to research it, but I agree, a small amt most likely would not hurt if you cat is not sensetive to it.
