I am new to this website and have joined in hopes of learning a lot about the Persian Breed. I used to own a Persian, but sadly he passed away......

I miss him! Anyways, I have started to think seriously about breeding. I do have a few questions--mostly about the genetics, especially concerning coat colors. I am fairly informed on other subjects. But,Where would be the best to find information on this topic (genetics, coat wise)? Any references in this website, or links to other webstes would be wonderful!

Well, you know what. I will ask question now. Maybe someone can help!
But, before I begin, I am very serious about this. I am NOT looking to make money for breeding. I am considering this out of love for the breed. I would ony want to go about this in the correct fashion. I will do all that I can to make this happen. As some people say, I don't want to be a BYB (Back Yard Breeder.) I want to be a responsible one.

So, Let me get to the point. I am very interested in Brown (Mackeral) Tabbies, and Shaded Silver Persians. I am not sure, but could I breed the two together? Or would that just not work and mess up the genetics too much? I am pretty sure that you are only supposed to breed solids with solids, tabbies with tabbies, etc...

So, I thought about Breeding Brown Tabbies with Silver Tabbies. Would that work? I am hoping to get some silver kittens, and some brown tabbies from the resuting litter.

Again, I am very new. I have A LOT to learn. And I am willing to take all the time I need to do this the right way. So any links, emails, private messages, etc. would be very much appreciated.

Thank You so much! I appreciate any advice!

Persians: Beautiful Inside and Out.
Rest in Peace my Baby. We miss you!

Welcome to the site, I think there are colour charts
etc at P&E cats.  If you are seriously thinking of
breeding, a good idea would be to find a mentor,
I think CFA has names there.

We have excellent breeders on this site, try
sending them a PM.
