 I am interested in breeding and possibly showing. I have had 2 litters with my seal point, and have just purchased a flame stud. Any advice for someone new? All, good and bad, is appreciated. I also have a question. I am looking at purchasing a blue and white tabby, is that a terrible idea to have her breed with a flame himmie? I don't want to do it if the genetics will be wrong, but I would really like to have a persian as well.

Welcome to the site Jaime... I'm just a pet owner so can't give you advise on breeding, but we do have some wonderful breeders as members here. I'm sure they will be happy to answer any specific questions you have! Purrs, Joan

Hi Jamie, I'd like to join in with the others in welcoming you to the site. As mentioned. there are many excellent, highly knowledegable breeders on the forum, and I'm sure they will be along to help you with your questions. You could also post your specific questions on the CATS or Showing board. All the best of luck to you with your breeding program and showing of your cats. :flower: :paw:

Hi welcome to the site, I know nothing about gentetics so can't help you there. There is so much involved when you get into breeding that it was something I never felt comfortable with so I just spoil them There are some very knowledgable good breeders here so hopefully you can get some good advice.

Hi Jamie and welcome. Some colors of persians really should not be put together. Himis and Bicolors being one combination. This could result in pointed bicolors, which aren't allowed to be shown in CFA (since you say you are also interested in showing) I would suggest going to a cat show. Then you can get an idea of the persians being shown. You can get an idea of type - what to look for before you add another cat. Also a great opportunity to talk to some persian and himi breeders. This also helps in perhaps getting a mentor - someone to guide you in breeding, genetics and showing. You can find a cat show in your area by go to www.cfainc.org and looking at the show schedule. Many of us here can also answer a lot of questions you have.
